Confidential (Interior Design Studio, London)
The brief was straightforward on paper: photorealistic renders of a bespoke kitchen in Kensington, needed in time for a client pitch the following week. The reality was a bit more involved. The design studio had detailed DXF floor plans, material specs and a very clear mood board, but no 3D model at all. We built the entire kitchen from scratch in SolidWorks: bespoke cabinetry, the central island, integrated Gaggenau appliances, the lighting rig and every material finish the client had specified. Then we took it into KeyShot for rendering. Eight hero shots, twelve detail shots, four lighting variants. Day, golden hour, evening and artificial only. Every camera angle was agreed upfront by matching against the architect's reference images. The studio wanted prints at A1 for the presentation boards, so everything was delivered at 4K.

Confidential (Hydraulic Systems Company, Bristol)
The client had developed a new manifold block product and were putting together a tender for a defence contract worth over 200,000 pounds. The problem was the evaluation panel was not made up of hydraulics engineers. It was procurement and project managers who needed to understand what the product did and why it was better than the competition. A static drawing was not going to cut it. They needed a 90-second animation that could show the internal porting geometry, valve positions and assembly sequence to a non-technical audience, with their branding throughout. We modelled the full manifold block in SolidWorks, built internal cross-section cutaways to show the porting, and produced the animation in SolidWorks Composer. Post-production in After Effects added callout labels, voiceover cue marks and the brand overlay. Clean, professional and done in a week.
Confidential (Steel Fabricator, Sheffield)
The structural engineer had signed off the scheme and the client had their approval, but the steel fabricator was still waiting on drawings they could actually work from. What existed was a scheme drawing showing member sizes and overall dimensions. That is a long way from a set of shop drawings. We produced the full fabrication package: column and beam details, connection plate drawings with bolt patterns and weld preps, camber specifications and a complete steel schedule, all coordinated with the architectural drawings and the structural calculations. Everything was drawn to BS 5950 and matched the fabricator's own shop-drawing standard, which meant it went through their internal approval process without coming back to us. Two rounds of coordination issues were resolved with the structural engineer during the drawing stage, the kind of thing that would have caused expensive delays if they had surfaced on site.
Confidential (Property Developer, London)
The client had a planning application to submit and an investor presentation happening the same month. They needed imagery that would do two very different jobs: convince a London planning committee and excite private investors. Neither audience responds well to generic renders. The scheme was a 24-unit residential development in East London: contemporary architecture, brick and glass, courtyard garden. We worked from the architect's Revit model, enhanced it substantially with detailed material finishes, proper landscaping, contextual street furniture and the surrounding neighbourhood built out far enough to read as a real place. Eighteen final renders: six exteriors, four interiors across three apartment types, and three aerials. Two rounds of client revisions were built into the process. Material swaps on the exteriors in round one, time-of-day changes and a camera angle refinement in round two. All delivered at 4K, print-ready.
Confidential (Tier-1 Aerospace Supplier, Manchester)
This one came in on a Monday morning with a tight deadline. A Manchester-based supplier to the Rolls-Royce jet engine programme needed a complete 2D drawing package for a 14-component turbine bracket assembly, and they needed it fast, with first-article inspection booked for the following week. The challenge was that all they had were hand sketches and a half-built SolidWorks file that had been abandoned mid-project. We stripped it back, rebuilt the full assembly from scratch, resolved three interference fits between mating parts that had been missed, and produced the entire drawing package. Orthographic views, section cuts, GD&T tolerancing to ASME Y14.5, title blocks, revision history and a complete BOM, all to AS9100 standard. It is the kind of project where there is no room for error. Every dimension feeds into a physical part that ends up in an aircraft engine.
Confidential (Medical Device Company, Cambridge)
Medical device documentation is unforgiving. Every dimension, every material callout, every surface finish requirement has to be correct and traceable, because it will be scrutinised by a Notified Body and potentially by the FDA. There is no fixing it later. The client was in the final stretch of their CE marking process and had a submission window they could not miss. The device housing was an injection-moulded enclosure for a Class II diagnostic product that needed a complete drawing package to ISO 13485 standards, including biocompatibility material references and the revision control format required by their QMS. We worked directly with their regulatory affairs lead throughout. The housing had four main components: front shell, rear cover, PCB mounting boss structure and a gasket groove. We modelled everything in SolidWorks, produced the drawings to ASME Y14.5 GD&T, and made sure every document was formatted to pass through their QMS and survive regulatory audit.
Confidential (Packaging Manufacturer, Leeds)
When the client got in touch, they had just signed off on a new facility and had a conveyor system on order, but the drawing package was a mess. Years of modifications, hand-marked redlines, bits in AutoCAD LT that did not match the physical machine, and a fabricator asking questions no one could answer. The system itself was 18 metres long: motorised drive sections, welded sub-assemblies, a pneumatic diverter and 47 unique fabricated parts. We consolidated everything, modelled the missing components in SolidWorks, and during that process flagged three design conflicts that would have caused real problems on the shop floor. The final package was fully BS 8888 compliant. General arrangement drawings, assembly drawings, weld symbols, surface finish callouts and a complete BOM. The kind of documentation a fabricator can actually work from.
Confidential (Automotive Supplier, Birmingham)
The in-house engineer had done a solid job on the concept, but concept models and production drawings are two different things, and this one was not ready for the press shop. Wall thicknesses were inconsistent in the corners, the bend radii were below the minimum for the specified material and tooling, and there was no GD&T anywhere on the model. If it had gone to the OEM customer as-is, it would have come straight back. We ran a full DfM review first, documented every issue, then reworked the geometry in SolidWorks before producing the production drawing. Full GD&T, datum reference frames, surface finish callouts. Everything the OEM's supplier quality team would expect to see. Seven issues in total, all resolved before a single piece of steel was cut.
